e &lt;strong&gt;economia de meios&lt;/strong&gt;, desenvolvendo uma arte despojada de referencias não essenciais. C&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Verdana;"&gt;onsidero um dos píncaros da Arte Moderna do século passado, cuja influencia se estendeu à Música, à Literatura e à Arquitectura; o Minimalismo esteve sempre no cerne do Modernismo.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="center"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Verdana;"&gt;Mas num ponto discordo dos teóricos deste movimento (ou nunca o entendi); O Minimalismo defendia que a obra de arte não devia referir-se a outra coisa que não o próprio objecto (daí que muitas vezes usem a designação"untitled"); &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="center"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Verdana;"&gt;Não acho. é espaço dilatado mas de natureza estática.&lt;br /&gt;Ao contrário, o espaço bizantino dilata-se continuamente, existe nele um elemento dinâmico conquistado através da cultura paleo cristã, o uso dos planos brilhantes, das vastas superfícies luminosas que gradualmente se transformam em tapetes cromáticos.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Tal como os revestimentos de mármore dos romanos eram o lógico desenvolvimento decorativo da concepção estática do espaço, assim esses tapetes de mosaico bizantinos expressam a aceleração dinâmica nas investigações bizantinas.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Quem confrontar o espaço paleo cristão de &lt;strong&gt;Santa Constanza&lt;/strong&gt;, com o espaço bizantino de &lt;strong&gt;San Vitale&lt;/strong&gt; HEIGHT: 340px" height="486" src="http://www.pitt.edu/~tokerism/0040/images2/228.jpg" width="343" /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;Santa Constanza, paleo-cristã, na esquerda e San Vitale, bizantina, na direita&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;"&gt;Ao caminhar em Santa Constanza, as arquitraves radiais assinalam a passagem por sugestões lineares, entre uma zona central luminosa e uma atmosférica massa circundante.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bizâncio ignora esta dialéctica utilizando uma superfície mural que se curva e afasta do centro através de formas côncavas, cada vez mais impelidas para fora, para o vão circular que vem a perder toda a independência arquitectónica.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;"&gt;É uma mensagem nova cuja voz será ouvida nos séculos seguinte (XI e XII) quando surgem &lt;strong&gt;S.Marcos de Veneza&lt;/strong&gt; dos gregos e a &lt;strong&gt;consciência do espaço&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;strong&gt;interior&lt;/strong&gt; romano, produzindo uma revolução no espaço Latino.&lt;br /&gt;A Igreja Cristã não é o edifício misterioso que guarda um deus, e em certo sentido nem é a casa de Deus, mas o lugar de reunião, de comunhão e de oração dos fiéis.&lt;br /&gt;Por isso os cristãos se inspiraram na &lt;strong&gt;Basílica&lt;/strong&gt;, um tema social, e não no templo romano.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;"&gt;A revolução espacial consistiu em ordenar todos os elementos da Igreja na linha do "&lt;strong&gt;caminho humano para Deus&lt;/strong&gt;".&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;img style="WIDTH: 365px; HEIGHT: 218px" height="248" src="http://www.cnice.mecd.es/eos/MaterialesEducativos/bachillerato/arte/arte/x-media/pal-bas1.gif" width="474" /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;"&gt;Comparando as plantas da &lt;strong&gt;Basílica de Trajano&lt;/strong&gt; (esq.) e da &lt;strong&gt;Igreja de Santa Sabina&lt;/strong&gt; (dir.), umas das primeiras igrejas cristãs encontramos poucas diferenças para além da escala.&lt;br /&gt;Mas a Basílica romana é simétrica em relação aos dois eixos, criando um espaço com um centro bem definido.&lt;br /&gt;O arquitecto cristão suprime uma abside, transformando-a na entrada, rompendo a simetria do espaço, e deixando um único eixo longitudinal, a directriz do caminho do homem; acrescenta uma alma à função espacial.&lt;br /&gt;O carácter estático do espaço interno romano cede lugar ao espaço dinâmico: a trajectória do observador.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ao entrar na Basílica de Trajano sentimos estranhos num espaço independente de nós, eu entrei e saí admirado, mas sem participar;&lt;br /&gt;Em Santa Sabina abrangemos todo o espaço, pelo qual caminhamos ritmicamente acompanhados pelo desfilar de colunas e arcos; &lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:78%;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;a planta do meio situa-se na passagem de um esquema para o outro&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:78%;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;A mesma conquista dinâmica é evidente nos edifícios de esquema circular.&lt;br /&gt;O espaço do &lt;strong&gt;Panteão&lt;/strong&gt; é estático centrado uniformemente limitado por enormes muros&lt;br /&gt;Mas em &lt;strong&gt;Santa Constanza&lt;/strong&gt;, substituem-se a paredes por um cortejo de colunas acopladas que, numa orientação radial indicam, de todos os pontos do anel circundante, o centro do edifício.&lt;br /&gt;No Panteão não há necessidade de nos movermos porque é um ambiente elementar, definido, que se apreende à primeira vista; HEIGHT: 303px" height="375" src="http://data.greatbuildings.com/gbc/images/cid_1349932.jpg" width="544" /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;Panteon de Roma, 27 a.C.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:78%;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;"&gt;A pluralidade do programa romano no que respeita à construção – opondo-se nitidamente ao tema único da arquitectura grega – e a sua &lt;strong&gt;escala monumental&lt;/strong&gt;;&lt;br /&gt;A &lt;strong&gt;nova técnica&lt;/strong&gt; construtiva dos arcos e abóbadas, que reduz colunas e arquitraves a motivos decorativos;&lt;br /&gt;O sentido dos &lt;strong&gt;grandes volumes&lt;/strong&gt; nos reservatórios, nos túmulos, nos aquedutos, nos arcos, nas poderosas concepções espaciais das basílicas e das termas;&lt;br /&gt;Uma consciência altamente &lt;strong&gt;cenográfica&lt;/strong&gt;, fecundamente inventiva;&lt;br /&gt;A maturidade dos &lt;strong&gt;temas sociais&lt;/strong&gt;, como o palácio e a casa;&lt;br /&gt;Todas estas contribuições, que estabelecem uma verdadeira enciclopédia morfológica da arquitectura, estão ausentes da arquitectura grega, afloram parcialmente no Helenismo, e constituem a glória incontestável de Roma.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Em Roma, ao lado da capacidade técnica, que se tornou mais rigorosa devido à escala monumental da arquitectura imperial, surge o tema social da basílica, onde os homens vivem segundo uma filosofia e uma cultura que rompe com a contemplação abstracta, o equilíbrio perfeito do ideal grego;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;img height="291" src="http://www.monolithic.com/thedome/pantheon/pan08x.jpg" width="444" /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;"&gt;O &lt;strong&gt;espaço interior&lt;/strong&gt; apresenta-se de forma majestosa; se os romanos não tinham a sensibilidade requintada dos escultores-arquitectos gregos, tinham em compensação o génio dos construtores-arquitectos, que é no fundo o génio da Arquitectura.&lt;br /&gt;Devemos repudiar a posição de alguns tratadistas para os quais a arquitectura romana é filha ou escrava da grega.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Verdana;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;O carácter fundamental do espaço romano é ser pensado estáticamente&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;Impera a simetria nos ambientes circulares e rectangulares, a autonomia absoluta quanto aos ambientes contíguos, sublinhada por espessos muros que separam;&lt;br /&gt;Trata-se de uma grandiosidade de axialidade dupla, de escala inumana e monumental, que se basta a si mesma e é independente do observador.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;img height="372" src="http://www.monolithic.com/thedome/pantheon/csectionx.jpg" width="230" /&gt;&lt;img style="WIDTH: 261px; e outros a &lt;strong&gt;escala&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;O arquitecto deve ser também um escultor para poder &lt;strong&gt;transmitir, através do&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;strong&gt;tratamento plástico&lt;/strong&gt; do invólucro mural e dos elementos decorativos,&lt;strong&gt; o&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;strong&gt;prolongamento do tema espacial&lt;/strong&gt;; mas o mito que coloca Fídias (o escultor), acima de Ictino e Calícrates (os arquitectos), como o idealizador do &lt;strong&gt;Partenon &lt;/strong&gt;simboliza o carácter meramente escultórico das construções religiosas gregas. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;img src="http://www.greatbuildings.com/drawings/Parthenon_Plan.jpg" /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;"&gt;Os templos gregos são espaços não apenas encerrados, mas literalmente fechados, e o espaço interior fechado é característico da escultura.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:Verdana;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;img style="WIDTH: 479px;
